Neden is an independent, open-source project. The website and the desktop player handle different kinds of information.

This website

There are no advertising trackers or analytics scripts on this site. Cloudflare hosts the website and processes network information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect it. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Optional Neden accounts — test environment

Account sign-in uses Better Auth on Cloudflare. We store your name, email, password hash, verification status, and session records. Passwords are hashed before storage. A necessary session cookie keeps you signed in. Cloudflare sends verification and password recovery messages. Temporary rate-limit records help protect accounts from repeated sign-in attempts.

Hosted AI and subscriptions are not open yet. The planned service sends selected subtitle text and conversation context to DeepSeek. Videos and local flashcards stay on your computer. Our service does not store prompt or response text; the AI provider has its own data handling practices. Usage records contain request identifiers, allowance counts, and token counts. Old usage records are pruned after 100 days.

Stripe handles payment details separately. Neden keeps a billing customer reference and subscription status. Deleting your account cancels any subscription and removes sign-in and usage records. A minimal deletion marker and billing event identifiers remain to prevent delayed billing updates from restoring access; Stripe retains its own billing records. You can delete your account from the account page.

The desktop player

Playback history, settings, and saved flashcards are stored on your computer. API credentials are stored through the operating system’s credential service. You can clear playback history in the app’s settings.

AI features

When you ask for a definition, explanation, or follow-up, Neden sends the relevant text and subtitle context to the provider you configure. That provider’s data handling, retention, and billing rules apply. Video playback itself does not require an AI request.

Update checks and support

Versions with a manual update checker contact GitHub only when you choose to check for updates. GitHub receives normal connection information, including your IP address; the request contains no media or profile data. Copy diagnostics places selected technical details on your clipboard. Reports are sent only when you choose to submit them.
